Call me biased, but my affinity for these new iPad cases from DODOcase are admittedly due to the fact they've drawn inspiration from my state's spectrum of natural colors: Granite/Poppy, Meadow/Lake, Tahoe/Sunrise and Sandy/Earth. The San Francisco company continues offering handmade cases for iPad users, using traditional bookbinding techniques, now with a new solid bamboo core (light and strong!)...
The video above shows how DODOcase covers are made (this is for the previous model, but the process basically remains the same).
The DODOcase Spring/Summer 2012 cradles your iPad in a strong, yet eco-friendly bamboo tray. The multifunctional design allows you to use the case as a stand for typing or watching videos. The DODOcase's magnetic insert activates the iPad's auto wake/sleep feature to wake and sleep your iPad instantly. Optional camera hole provides access to your iPad's rear facing camera.
Along with the splash of Cali-inspired hues, the new cases have been modified to the specs of the updated Retina display iPad, with the option to personalize any case with a book cover monogram in black or gold foil on the front, back and spine.
With a Retina display iPad on its way, we're on the hunt for the right case, and these tome inspired designs might be the ticket. We'll report back once we decide between Granite/Poppy (Apartment Therapy colors!) or the classic and academic looking, Sandy/Earth edition.
All four of the DODOcase Spring/Summer 2012 are now available for $79.95, (with personalization monogramming starting at $9.95), alongside a more staid updated Essentials Line if Cali swag isn't your cup of wheatgrass.
