The most likely spot you'll leave your keys upon entering the home is somewhere in the vicinity of a door and a light switch. So why not just recognize this fact and hang up your keys where you're most likely to remember them? That's the idea behind this Kickstarter project called, Switchhooks...
One day, a few years ago, my sister lost her keys. I asked her where had she had them last. She said "When I walked in the door and turned on the lights!"
A little light bulb turned on in my head. Store the keys where she's most likely to remember them. I set myself to the task of inventing the solution. SwitchHooks were born! A light switch plate with the form to functionally store for keys, wallets, purses, jackets, ect.
SwitchHooks are quick and easy to install. SwitchHooks are made with bamboo, a beautiful and sustainable material. Every switch hook plate is made in the USA.
Like the idea of never losing your keys again (or at least reducing the possibliity)? Support them with a $9 pledge over at their Kickstarter page. Now if we can only have one for our USB flash drive collection...

When recently helping an elderly relative the fire service where I live came to visit. They said you should always take your keys with you inside your house - and never leave them near a door or window. Taking the keys with you means that if there's a fire you can unlock a window (if you keep yours locked) and jump out (if it is safe to do so), or you can throw the keys to the fire service or someone outside so they can help rescue you.
And you should never leave them near a door or window as it makes your house an easy target for burglars.
But always knowing where your keys is, is a good idea!
I like the version with the round magnets! That would be a great DIY project, actually...
We have our keys on a hook above a decorative Anthro switchplate, but this is a neat idea.
i get the heebie jeebies when my keys are near anything electrical (even though i know that a light switch plate is pretty safe). i couldn't use these. but this is coming from a former curious toddler who once stuck a booby pin an an electrical outlet, so ...
I think this is a cool idea. But, what about scratches on the wall? Maybe a pretty piece of wallpaper behind the switchplate?
Or you can put up a command hook next to your light switch. That's what I have
This is a great idea for an office, you never leave without forgetting your keys. I like the second one.
In a house, I think you shouldn't leave your keys by the door, in an apartment, it shouldn't matter as much (we don't usually leave our doors unlocked as you do in a house).
