Shaw's Original Fir...
Hey AT - I appreciate your scavenger posts, but could you please stop posting items from DEALERS who consistently post ads in the Furniture by OWNER ad section of CL? VintageGround and Phylum Furniture in Chicago, I am referring to you.
If we post a piece from a dealer, then to us, it's worth the mention. There's obviously some folks who post under owner to try to get more traffic to their listings and sometimes, we're suckers like everyone else and check them out.
If you find such a listing here, it will most likely be because it's at a great price point and worth your time to check out.
I was super suprised that you found something in Lincoln because we usually have the same overpriced over-used puffy couches and broken-down recliners, but then I realized it was from The Nest. Their stuff is always so cool.
I personally do not care whether it's a dealer or owner.
I'm just glad you do all the hard work in the searches first.
Keep it up?
Xtina - There's usually something decent in Lincoln, but you can't always search for the typical key words like you can in larger cities. The words "old, grandma's, grandpa's, basement" are always good things. I find great stuff (other than the neat things that are at The Nest) by searching off beat key words in that area.
Thanks from St. Louis! Keep up the good work.
I hope this doesn't replace the daily Chicago Scavenger!
LadyaLara19 - This will replace those daily scavengers and although we know they'll be missed by many Chicagoans. That said, we feel representing the entire country instead of just a few cities will better help more of our readers.
Sarah Rae, I actually appreciate it not being restricted to major cities. It's almost like a slap in the face to everyone else. There are plenty of people in smaller cities that also appreciate good design.
agreed, i hope this doesn't replace the daily chicago scavenger... it's really the only reason i still subscribe.
Noooooooo! - Sincerely, selfish Chicagoan!
agree, agree, agree Leslie in Chicago! quite frankly, the scavenger always struck me as a somewhat lazy page-filler--pretty much anyone anywhere can access craigslist, can't they? if you (AT) are going to exploit the site, at least take the time to vet the material you're going to repost.
So, where does the city of Pittsburgh fit into your restructuring of these Daily Scavengers? (please don't say Midwest). :)
I am VERY happy to see the Midwest Scavenger again!
