Oh I so want that dresser! Too bad I am in Ohio
That brass coffee table in #6 is exactly like the one my grandmother had in her living room for years. No ceramic squrriels under that one though.
I find this irritating. "regional" CL is pointless. I don't care what is available in Seattle when I live in Los Angeles. I can't buy it.
Agreed. I may drive down to San Diego for the right find, but how is furniture in Phoenix at all useful to me?
Agreed. Much better by city separately. Even if there are fewer items than previously, it's easier to look at when they're split up.
Having a regional round-up is not helpful. It reduces the amount of links for each city, and since Craigslist relies on the buyer picking up their purchase, seeing what's available 2 or 3 states away is pointless.
I agree with the two prior posters. Regional listing is pointless. CL is city-specific and AT's coverage of it should be as well.
I agree, regional pointless.
Only 3 listings for LA - and all over $1000? Regional doesn't work - break down by city (and have more itemsper city). Scavenger is one of my favorite AT features and I've bought a handful of things I found there - bummer about the change which makes it less useful...
And while you are at, why don't you cover some kids goodies for the Ohdeedoh readers for things like good quality gently used toys (Haba, Plan Toys) or cloth diaper bargains.
Some of us are just glad to see ANY Seattle stuff on there. AT is obviously trying to expand the number of cities they're covering. So those of us in previously uncovered cities are happy; those in previously covered cities are angry about change.
Yeah this pretty much blows. No one cares about cities they don't live in and having only 3 options for LA isn't enough to make me click in to this. I'll just go to craisglist on my own if this sticks.
I'm with emmelemm. I'm in Portland and always skipped the scavenger posts altogether because there was never anything from my corner of the country. Glad to finally see some stuff from my neck of the woods!
YAY! So glad you're doing the scavenger this way now!
This format is much messier to view and offers less per city. But it does remind me to go to craigslist and search on my own.
Gosh, AT, why don't you cater to ME? ME ME ME!
God forbid that you have a few less links that are relevant to you personally so that folks in other cities can have a few things relevant to them. Oh, the injustice of it all!
This new scavenger system is a major bummer.
I'm an LA resident and have no interest in Denver's finds, Seattle's finds, or Idaho's finds. I'm interested in what my city has to offer so if I like what I see, I can buy it.
I really valued the 6 great finds that scavenger doled out everyday. 3 is only half the fun.
LA Scavenger used to be on my daily bookmarks list. If Scavenger gets this small, I wont check it. Please go back to the old way. Or add more Scavengers in new cities, like Denver or Idaho, or wherever. Less is not more.
Major bummer.
Bring back San Francisco Scavenger!!! Please!!! You're just making me envious that I don't live in these other places.
You know what? In a way, this is great. Because this way, no one will have a quick, easily accessible window to all the best stuff on Craigslist. So more good stuff for me if I go sort through Craigslist myself. Moo ha ha!
All sarcasm aside, this is just as useful as adding Austin, Texas to the Los Angeles section of Apartment Therapy. Which is to say, completely useless, totally annoying, and absolutely inexplicable. You want to cover other cities, separate them out and do it, but don't clutter up my city's area. Isn't AT supposed to be about LESS clutter?
Back to just LA Scavenger, please!
I agree with the other LA posters...prefer the by City posting. Otherwise, not much use to me.
Dallas? Please.
as if the CL Scavenger wasn't poorly designed enough already (what w/ images shown separately from the corresponding title/prices), AT has now made more of a mess of things w/ this "Regional" Scavenger.
for safety's sake alone, LA should relate to LA, SF to SF, & so on...because once "we" see what's posted out in PHX, DEN, Portland, Seattle, SD, etc., we'll march on those cities & pillage their cheaper priced furnishings.
i'm pretty sure this is how the War of 1812 began...?
come on AT, you're better than that.
Yeah, adding my voice to the chorus of folks disappointed with this change. A couple of problems:
1) Although it's expanded by number of cities, the number of items per city has shrunk. That's disappointing to those of us who will now see fewer items each day.
2) Not breaking it up by city is particularly frustrating for a couple of reasons. It means that when I see a picture of something I love on the homepage (before the jump to the full post, that is), I don't know if it's in Denver or Los Angeles. Before, I could see a photo and click because I knew I could buy it in my city. It also is designed in such a text-heavy way that it's not that easy to scan quickly or figure out which listing name goes with which photograph.
I assume that, despite the wording about "expanding" scavenger, this is the result of limited resources. Hard to blame you guys for that, but this is decidedly an inferior product.
Agree with the majority that this new format doesn't work. It's only frustrating to see what's in other cities rather than helpful.
Ugh - Nothing like loving a dresser and then realizing it's hundreds of miles away. Regional scavenger is LAME. :(
Bummer, I much prefer the Los Angeles area only. LA is so big that there is plenty of content of excellent finds. If I wanted to get a piece of funriture in SF or Portland I would simply search those areas.
I would read LA Scavenger everyday with the hope of finding a good piece that I could pick up that day, they go very fast. Good pieces don't last long and someone in SF, Phoenix...etc is very much less likely to ship to LA, not to mention way too price prohibitive.
I agree with most of the of the reasons in the posts above. This cause me to visit Apart-Therapy less often.
Please bring back the old format.
Again, Please!
