Light-Filled Family Home. When Sam and Leslie Davol (he's the cellist for the Magnetic Fields) made a killing selling their Greenwich Street loft in New York, they decided they'd be Quitting Their Day Jobs and Scaling Up. They bought two adjacent top-floor apartments in Boston and hired Höweler & Yoon Architecture to help re-imagine the space...

They ended up with a light-filled family apartment that has room for a family of four and two office spaces for the adults...

In addition to the amazing courtyard space (notice how the metallic walls reflect even more light!), the added skylights above the shower was a great way to bring in natural light. We're fond of the pared-down furnishings and large gathering spaces. For the full story see The New York Times and the slideshow.
