If you're reading this site then chances are you've been stuck on what to do in some area of your home. Convert that closet? Add subway tiles to the bathroom? Work in some wallpaper? These questions have plagued us. What we wouldn't have done in that moment of complete uncertainty for just a chat with a professional, someone who could steer us in the right direction.
Dwell on Design is happening June 25-27 in LA for the 3rd year running. And this year they're offering a new experience as a part of the conference on modern living and design. They're calling it speed dating for design, we call it brilliant.
The Designer Is In feature (sponsored by Remodelista and Curated) will be 20 minute one on one sessions with a selection of local LA based interior designers. So if you're stymied on a project big or small, you can sign up for a session and get your creative juices flowing again. The sign up sheet is right here.
Here's a special sneak peek just for Apartment Therapy readers of some of the participating designers:
- Annie Coggan
- Rachel Winokur
- Ariel Fox
- Sarah Shetter
- Delta Wright
- Diamante Pedersoli
- Susan Corry
- Sidney Cooper
- Allison Hanes
Also, if you're a designer in LA and want to lend your services and get in on the action, there's still room to to sign up to consult.

White Enamel Flatwa...
I love that table. Does anyone know who makes it?
Can they make a road trip to Boston? I need some serious design help?
I will echo amyks's request. Too often, Boston is looked over in favour of our neighbour New York City. Aside from bars closing at 2 AM and our subways shutting down at 12:30 AM, you can hardly tell the difference between the two cities, although we have less access to great design, unlike NYC. So yes, consider Boston. Please.
Nice table. Everything else is hideous and and/ or impractical.
And don't forget you've also got those amazing Celtics, Boston!!!
Architectural Digest has been doing this at their Home Show for years.
You know, the magazine everyone around here finds so stodgy and behind the times. ;)
Similar tables can be found at
BDDW- beautiful and high quality

Hudson Furniture in NYC (meat packing district)

hideous, un-useable? It's called design. What exactly is so hideous or un-useable. Even as a minimalist, it's a cool look.
it's actually the Marison table from Environment Furniture- they have really beautiful, heavy-duty stuff. we have another table from there being made now :)

** Sigh **
I'm in the Detroit area (NW suburbs). Does anyone know of a designer who can help me with my living room? Long story short, the Salvation Army accidently loaded up their truck with all my furniture in that room (I was out of town- workmen screwed up. Royally).
I LOVE most of the interiors here at AT but have no clue how to pull this off. Most designers out this way are conservative.
Anyone have recommendations?
Thanks!

Try the designer referral service on Decorati.com, and check out Craigslist... I have an ad up (under Creative Services) here in New York, and people do manage to find me that way.
Patrick,
Thanks for those great ideas! I'm off to look at them.
Where can I get those classroom look chairs to the right?
Speed design? You get what you pay for.
is it just me or is the link to the "speed dating for design" broken?
minimalist1, those light fixtures in the dining room look like they are warming lamps from Hardees, circa 1986. Otherwise, you are right - the kitchen is pretty sweet. I think I might have been too quick in my judgement. Oh, the painting, and the feigned table "moment" is just too trite.
