We're not sure how many of you folks who were born after 1980 are still using a landline, since it seems like everyone we know has ditched the landline for their celly. But we still like the clarity and comfort of a landline compared to the sometimes spotty service a cell offers. But if you're going to have to use yesterday's tech, why not at least look cool doing so, like with this Detraform 500 DECT cordless handset?
Obviously a distant cousin of the iconic mod, Ericofon, the Detraform 500 by Kiwi&Pom is constructed with polished polycarbonate and anodized aluminum for a more robust finish that harkens back to an era when you could bonk would-be assailants effectively with your handset and have a fighting chance to dial that emergency call (somehow, we imagine those cheap plasticky cell phones most people carry could only stop an infant or small pet in its tracks).
While the Detraform model 500 is anything by ho-hum in form factor, the features are a little more yawn inducing:
- DECT 1.9mhz wireles with reduced radiation technology
- Intercom
- Speakerphone
- Caller ID memory
- Volume control
- AAA battery powered
The Detraform is available for preorder for Canadian, EU and US residents via Detraform.com.

Thanks for the post Gregory. You might want to correct the spelling in couple places to "Detraform model 500 telephone", not Destraform. Thanks!
