The DIY L-Shaped Basement Home Theater

Chris began his basement project all the way back in 2007, a project which transformed a seemingly awkward L-shaped room into an impressive underground home theater with 129" screen and just about every home entertainment component available at remote's reach, complete with kitchenette and bathroom so he never has to leave. Looking at the results, it seems like it was worth the wait (and blood, sweat and tears).

Equipment List:

  • Panasonic PT-AE3000 Projector
  • 129" wide SmX ProLine Screen - 2.37:1
  • Denon 3808ci Receiver
  • Playstation 3
  • Sony BDP-N460 Bluray player + streaming media (Netflix)
  • Monitor Audio RS6 left and right front speakers
  • Monitor Audio RSLCR center channel speaker
  • Monitor Audio RSFX surround speakers
  • Monitor Audio RSFX rear speakers
  • SVS PC-13 Ultra Subwoofer
  • 6 Aura Pro Bass Shakers
  • 300 watt BASH subwoofer amplifier
  • Berkline 13175 seating
  • Nintendo Wii
  • Comcast HD DVR
  • Thecus N5200 NAS (1.5TB RAID5 network attached storage)
  • 2.7GHz dual core Pentium HTPC
  • Harmony 680 universal remote
  • Logitech Harmony PS3 IR adapter
  • X10 Powermid IR repeater
