It's official - Apartment Therapy has landed in High Point, North Carolina, and we're armed and ready to record, photograph and share anything we see that's cool. Selina, Aaron and I landed this afternoon, had dinner tonight at the Chop House and are passing out at the Sheraton Four Seasons (NOT fancy). Tomorrow we hit the ground running at the 8am press breakfast. Stay tuned over the next five days or so to see everything we bring back from America's biggest furniture market. Have some Carolina Pulled-Pork Barbeque for me!
I've always wanted to go to this show. Next year AT should host a contest for a spot to join you guys here.
Screw all that crazy bourgie furniture madness that is high point...head on over to Greensboro and stop into Tate Street Coffee for eclectic design madness, awesome people and even awesomer coffee.
What is that on a plate in front of Aaron(?) ?
Is it a DIY restaurant?
It'll be interesting to read your report, Maxwell - I've never been on NC furniture show, although specified a lot of NC' and other American-made furniture. Instead I've been a ICFF-visitor for over 15 years (it's coming!)
Interesting, be sure to list contact info any affordable finds that allow direct buys!
Oh I have never been interested in High Point - but I have yet to witness the grand furniture show they put on - the city is dead all other times of the year
Vhision, I laughed out loud at the last part of your comment. I lived in High Point and the surrounding areas for about 5 years and you are exactly right! Some of the downtown furniture showrooms aren't even open at any other time of the year... But market time is CRAZY! I purposely went out of town during the furniture markets just to avoid the madness that took over High Point.
i live in NC and am contemplating a trip to Hickory soon. Anyone know how High Point compares (at non-market time)?
My parents used to drive to NC every year to buy a new piece of furniture. Can't wait to see what you find!
I grew up there but haven't been back in almost 10 years. Have lunch at The Dog House (if it's still there!) on Main Street - great hamburgers and hot dogs and close to all the market action.
If you want real Carolina 'Q, eat at Kepley's. The BBQ is super vinegar-y, and the hush puppies are to die for.
Check out the Furniture Land South Outlet if you come through High Point - the prices are UNREAL and the furniture is really quality stuff!!
NC BBQ is the best!
