Over 30 million plastic toothbrushes are used and disposed of every year in Australia. The 100% biodegradable Environmental Toothbrush is one small step towards breaking the plastic habit.

The toothbrush body is made from bamboo, while the bristles are made from a polymer derived from renewable plant feedstock. The toothbrushes come in packs of $12 individually wrapped in plant-based wax-lined paper, also completely biodegradable.

The packs of $12 are sold for $33 AUD (about $30 USD). We don't have any personal experience with these brushes, but this review seems to indicate that they're lightweight and the bristles are very soft.

Again, when dealing with bamboo and environmentally-friendly options that need to be shipped long distances, there are always questions of sustainability, waste of resources, etc. But even taking this into consideration, it seems that the resources used would still be less than a plastic toothbrush (especially considering the after-life).

Toothbrushes can be ordered from The Environmental Toothbrush website or Australian stores Flannerys and Divine Harvest.
