The Ever-Versatile IKEA Expedit

Small Space Solutions

A recent tour the home of some good friends yielded the first picture above — an Expedit TV unit cleverly modified to hold their record player and record collection. They raved about the amount of storage the tall unit provides, and how ideally suited it was to their small space — no other record storage system would fit. As often as the versatile Expedit has been profiled on Apartment Therapy, we thought it was worth the effort to round up some of our favorites as inspiration.

Our first batch of Expedit bookcases in action come from the Apartment Therapy DC group on Flickr:
1. Yoannah created a wonderful reading nook using the largest Expedit
2. Suzy8Track used a smaller unit to display her collection of vintage 8 tracks and players
3. DomoArigato put together a wonderful studio space with tons of storage
4. JJBurke combined books, electronics and vintage camers on to create a vibrant shelving unit

Our second group are pure inspiration for folks looking to pump their storage up a notch:
5. What's not to love with this magnificent hack involving an IKEA Expedit and a welded steel frame?
6. Eva van Ireland's incredible wall of stacked storage is a bibliophile's dream.
7. Here's an Expedit effectively partitioning a small studio while providing tons of storage.
8. This creative hack really pumps up the style and shape of the Expedit to a new level.
