New York Magazine visits the homes of six eccentric New Yorkers, each with a strong personality that manifests itself in over-the-top decorating. Designers Jason Oliver Nixon and John Loecke share their wallpapered oasis, comedian Amy Sedaris explains her approach to decorating "as if I owned a child," and artist Agata Oleksiak (aka Olek) covers her entire living space in crochet.

- Paper Planes: Designers Jason Oliver Nixon and John Loecke wallpapered the ceilings of their Lefferts Garden home — for a longer look, see the full three-part Apartment Therapy tour here, here, and here.
- I Yarn Bombed This: Artist Agata Oleksiak (aka Olek) covers every square inch of living space in crochet.
- I Decorate As If I Owned A Child: The always-hilarious Amy Sedaris explains, "I’ll toss a tiny pair of shoes in the hallway or lean small wooden crutches in what I refer to as “the baby’s room,” which is actually a tiny space where I make things. I continue to call it the baby’s room because it confuses people and it’s creepy."
- Masking Apartment: Fashion designer Sylvia Heisel worked with interior designer Doug Meyer to cover her walls in a spiderweb of artist's tape.
- Home Shopping Network: Architect-designer-antique-dealer David Biscaye decorates his Upper East Side apartment in leather, gilt, and crystal.
- If Marie Antoinette Took the A Train: Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz and Steven Wine answer the critical question, "Like, if Marie Antoinette was to find an apartment at Rockaway Park in 2011, what would she have?"

Sprout Side Table
The first picture is cute in a sort of "OMG, the colors and patterns, please make them stop" way. The second one looks like a clown threw up all over the room.
I now love Amy Sedaris even more than before, which I didn't think was possible.
those were pretty awesome! thanks for posting this.
I think the crocheted apartment is just amazing. i really love all the colors. As someone who crochets myself, its something i really appreciate.
Oh, to live in that UES studio!
Did anyone take the time to read the text in picture two? *giggle*
1. Actually surprisingly cool.
2. Holy dysfunctional man magnet.
3. Amy Sedaris is my hero.
4. AAH - MY EYES!! ("Did you see my striped top? I can't find it anywhere...")
5. Not enough photos.
6. The pink bedroom does look "strong" and "powerful," but not in the way I think they mean.
YES!
that is some design with cajones!!
here's a home you might enjoy as well at

enjoy it all!!
Amy Sedaris is my hero!
The bedroom would create a sleep disorder for me. But I like some of the patterns in the first photo, but not ALL at the same time. Maybe a couple or a few.
Jason's home is crazy and weird in the best possible way. His style makes me want to be a different person, the kind of person that lives in a house like that!
Eew to the crochet-covered toilet and bathroom sink (not in this post, but in the tour). She doesn't actually live there, surely?
Ah! It appears she does not. If the whole apartment is just an "installation," I'm cool with that.
#6--that's a beautiful view, but the pink bedroom is *self-censored*
Where ever do you find "Tom of Finland" toile?
I want to be best friends with Amy Sedaris, and live in the home of Nixon and Loecke. It's perfect.
According to the article Olek's entire apartment really looks like that, except for the shower sink and toilet. At her apartment, those are normal. She just crocheted them for the installation. The rest looks the same though, apparently.
Amy Sedaris is one of my favorites.
Happy to see I have the same framed mushroom print in my kitchen that she does in hers.
I feel one step closer to being her best friend =P
