The Fresh Start Home Office

We just moved and everything is in boxes and even the thought of unpacking is totally overwhelming. We want to throw it all away and start over fresh with a simple desk, some inspiring photos and a clean workspace like this one:

We found these photos on Flickr, they belong to Adore Vintage and we love the fresh, clean look of this home office.

The components:

• A subtle palette with a burst of color (red!)
• No bulletin board (too messy!) instead 2 rows of inspiring images
• A beautiful orchid to inspire
• Storage on the desktop in order to put things away
• A simple desk lamp so we're not working in the dark

I love those IKEA organizer boxes...I have some of those in my office, too. The desk in the pic would be better in the Command Position, though. At least a mirror to help see who is approaching from behind...(lions and tigers and bears, oh my!). :)

does anyone know where the lamp is from? i am looking for a lamp base like this one.

@heartnatalina it looks like the crystal ones from target...i have seen a few left in the stores so don't let the website "out of stock" notice get you down.

oh what I wouldn't do for my desk to be another 6 inches deeper! There's JUST enough room for me to put my laptop on it and rest my arms for typing; no space for papers or even a mouse pad. Such, I suppose, are the hazards of using family hand-me-downs from the pre-computer era.

I have workspace envy. My current home office situation is just a little too narrow and claustrophobic (and lacking in horizontal surface) to really meet my needs. Alas... one must have money in order to get better things, so work first and fix later! ;)

Nice and cozy office space! I normally keep a completely clean desktop (except for my laptop), but now am sharing a desk with my BF and he is messssy. Going to try to get some ideas from this. The storage boxes are a nice idea.

I've been working on this... I managed to walk into a Staples and get a little desk organizer and matching pencil holder in dark wood for 90% off. It was my lucky day. : )
Now just to finish the purging.
