Over at Smarts and Crafts we spotted this picture of Cilla Ramnek's mosaic tile floor for a cafe in Stockholm. We were so struck, we went looking for more photos.
We found a number of restaurants in Stockholm with Cilla's installations. We couldn't find much of her work after 2006 until...voila! She is, of course, a pattern designer for IKEA now.
We thought her work looked familiar. It was all over Janel's post on the new IKEA catalog's textiles and patterns!
Just looking at the photographs below, you can see how her designs made the transition from the streets of Stockholm to the IKEA product line. For more of Cilla's work, check out her 2004 book, Knitprovisation: 70 Imaginative Projects Mixing Old with New.
Patterns from an installation at the Stockholm Underground, 2000.
