Dix. Intaglio, 6" x 6"Introducing Diana Marie Behl who lives and works in South Dakota where she teaches printmaking at the state university. Her prints have a delightful sense of color and design and each contains a personal story told through symbols and metaphors -- she likens her current work to diaries or logbooks. See more below, including collage and installation!
new route, new wish. Intaglio Monoprint, 18" x 24"I love the delicacy of the lines, dots and layers of color. What's super nice is that her prints range from $150 to $400, depending on their size.
A show of Behl's work will be opening this weekend in Calgary -- "Old School" at the UPPERCASE Gallery located on the upper level of Art Central, at the corner of 7th Avenue SW and Centre Street. 403-283-5318. info@uppercasegallery.ca

And this is why I love the Internet. On an ordinary afternoon, when I should be working, I'm just snorfling around, wasting time, when: Bam! Someone puts up a slide show from a lovely artist I would have never found otherwise.
I particularly like new route, new wish.
I'm all about creativity, but this looks like the work of a 5 year old. What are those things coming up...they look like chopped off fingers...or something even worse. ha
i love Printmaking, but these are a little....generic.
the screenprint (third or fourth slide) is kind of nice tho.
It doesn't even look like printmaking...more like a 5 yr old with some crayons. I used to do a lot of printmaking, I sorta chuckle at this. I just don't get it.
it definitely looks like printmaking. the crayon look is just the effect from the intaglio process.
i would take alof of 5 yr olds art over adult art any day. but these prints dont really speak to me.
These are great! I love the colors and the mood...
As a huge AT fan, I've gotta say that I'm really excited to see not only my beautiful home state mentioned here, but also my alma mater (Behl is a visiting asst. prof. at South Dakota State)! I'd love to see a few more AT posts once in awhile about the rural midwest--yes, we have some great design here, too!
