We first came across San Francisco artist Kate Durkin's work at Rose and Radish's Urban exhibit a few months ago. We couldn't help staring at her wall mural a riff on graffiti that had so much texture and pattern. We were recently reminded of her talents when we noticed that she's one of the featured artists at My Trick Pony.
Her mural may be gone from Rose and Radish (the shop/gallery has moved on to a Tea Time exhibit), but you can still see her handiwork in Room 507 at Hotel Des Arts.
In her paintings, we love how she incorporates collage, acrylic and stitching. (Yes, stitching!)
You can view more of Kate's paintings on her website, or pick up a print at her Etsy shop. Her Sixty Forty Urban silk-screened prints for Rose and Radish (shown above) is also still available.
