Melissa Meyer. We love how these paintings are sturdy and settled into their structure, while keeping all the freedom, fluidity and spontaneity of the brush strokes.
The colors are glowing and radiant too -- “organized layers that translate the wet-over-dry and wet-into-wet technique natural to watercolor into the robust medium of oil paint.” Meyer is also a terrific printmaker and the exhibition will also include work from a new series of monotypes made with watercolor. Her current exhibition opens tonight, 6-8 at Lennon Weinberg, 514 West 25th Street, New York, NY 10001 Tel. 212 941 0012. Inquiries about the works featured here? Please contact the gallery.
