All about the process. Nami Ito is a rising California artist that uses old techniques for her pieces. Her artwork is made using a traditional Japanese painting techinque involving an adhesive base mixed with powdered pigments, crushed seashell powder to form a wash, all on rice paper. The process is long and slow as each layer must dry before another can be put on, but the results are gorgeous.
Her paintings all have a simple childlike quality and each one is truly unique. You must see them in person. There are currently approximately 20 of her paintings on display at the gallery at Emmerson Troop. You can see more at the Emmerson Troop website, or visit Nami's website. Emmerson Troop is located at 8111 Beverly Blvd in West Hollywod, 323.653.9763
