More Inexpensive Art: Thumbtack Press

Earlier this week we featured work from Thumbtack Press. We have selected 8 more works of art (all under $30!), for you to check out on this Friday afternoon....

The Image of the Owl Skeleton blowing bubble gum can be found here by Chris Buzelli. Many of his works are bright and playful with a twist of humor.

This print by Colin Johnson makes it hard not to smile at this print. How can you resist such faces?

Sometimes you need color in your space, but not a heavy subject matter. This beautiful tree would make any home feel a bit more cozy. Artist: Lucas Aguirre

Nathan Ota has illustrated a whimsical piece entitled "Moving On." Appropriate for many stages in our lives, or just a mind set in general, we enjoy the dark nature of this piece along with its silver lining.

Usually skulls or skeletons are dark and creepy, or hard core and militant. We enjoy this lighter version by artist Shout.

We've always wondered how the ships made their way into the bottles... now we know. Artist Riki Blanco has a large imagination and a great sense of style to his work.

Paul Ryding expresses his thoughts on the military in his works. We enjoyed the bright colors in this print and the hard clean lines.

Thumbtack Press strives to show you that art doesn't have to cost a fortune to look fantastic, nor does it have to come from a JcPenny's Catalog. Happy hunting!

while some of these prints are pretty cool, and i generally find some dece stuff on thumbtack... alot of the examples chosen for this post are fug.

if you haven't been to Thumbtack, give it a shot even if you don't like the stuff above. there are some gems there!

Please, everybody, the typos are killing me!!!!! "Paul Ryding expresses his thought on WAY and the military in his works"? "IT'S silver lining"? I'm afraid I'm being obnoxious, but please, please proofread!

Does anyone know of a site that similarly sells images that's not "so hip it hurts"? (That's Thumbtack's motto!)

I don't want to offend the tender sensibilities of folks on the board, so let's just say I don't care for the editorial choices of those who run Thumbtack.

(Those images hurt the eyes, you tasteless clods!)(Sorry, i couldn't resist. But there are so many nasty things I could say about the "work" on Thumbtack (I can't call it art, sorry) , it's hard to hold back.)

Art (and language describing it) is extremely subjective. What appeals to one individual might not appeal to another. Although I would agree a bit of proofreading of written copy is in order, I personally found all of the artwork in reasonable to excellent taste.

I've been to Thumbtack's site quite a few times, and if there's something there I wouldn't want hanging on my wall, I just go to the next image or site.

Don't be so hasty to shoot the guitar player for playing a tune he didn't write.

I would also hang these in my home. Too many readers out there only take the time to comment on their dislikes. I cannot stand it when people criticize others for having an appreciation for something they don't care for themselves. I think it's rude to assume that one would only like something "quirky" because of what others around them might think. I love this kind of art because it features amazing colors and stimulates my imagination. I would not hang it in my home for shock value or so people would view me as edgy or unique. I've been keeping up with sarahrae's posts and feel she has terrific taste. She's not just going with the run-of the-mill Pottery Barn look. She throws in bright colors and great shapes and always has suggestions on how to decorate your home on a budget. Thanks for the great ideas!

I agree completely with "RockTheHotBox": Sarahrae's posts don't have to be mainstream hip to be informative and inspiring. Though not all of this artwork is to my decorating taste, I can still appreciate the work and thought that went into each piece. (BTW, love the Riki Blanco pieces!)

@ closertotheocean and K T G: if you can't say something nice or at the very least politely constructive, keep your opinions to yourself -- rudeness improves no one and shows your lack of open-mindedness.
