Whether they're used for gardening storage or as an artist's retreat, backyard sheds are a great small space addition to any home. They can be super tiny for storage or just big enough for living: modern or rustic, functional or simply serene. Here we've rounded up some of our favorite backyard escapes.

Nomade Express Slee...
Lovely.. I'd hate to ruin any of them by throwing my lawnmower, shovels and potting soil in there.
They're not sheds! At least two of them look like they could be small cool entries.
The small cottage/shed in the field of flowers makes me swoon.
The Sewing Shed puzzles me. I use our entire great room as my sewing room. I have a design wall, a sewing machine, a cutting table, ironing board and lots of fabric. Where does she press? Where does she cut out? What in the world is she sewing in there?
Oh, AT, how did this spammer get in?
I love to look at garden sheds. Ruthtooth is right of course, many of these are not sheds, but attractive little studios. Some years back, Annie Dillard wrote a small piece about her writing studio for Architectural Digest. I guess they expected a photo-op of an attractive little studio. But she said she just went down to the local hardware store an bought a toolshed, emphasizing that the writer's space should not be pretty, it should facilitate seeing with the mind's eye.
I dream of these I swear! A blogger who I read a lot built an amazing little guest house like this in her own backyard:

How are you suppose to get wifi in the shed?
