During the hot summer months in Brooklyn we like to spend as much time in our backyard as possible, but without a large tree to shade ourselves under there are some hours of the day that are just unbearable. We do have a large table umbrella that helps shade some corners of our outdoor table depending on where the sun is, but sometimes more shade is needed.

Designer Gurdeep Sandhu has dreamt up an outdoor concept that also provides power for your A/C indoors. The foldaway Solar Tree wings out during the day, providing shelter from the sun for those underneath it, while its PV panels on top absorb the sun's energy.
