Many of the veggies and herbs are still in the early stages (tomatoes, peppers, jalapenos, beans, scallions, mint, thyme, oregano, rosemary, parsley, basil and chives), but I have some Marigolds, Mouse Ear Coreopsis, Ivy, Geraniums, Passion Flower, Beardtongue, Purple Ice Plant (the last 3 are not in not in bloom yet but very close), and many Succulents.
I have brought up many of my house plants that seem pretty happy up there, safe and away from the cats, and I recently purchased a small Hibiscus tree that had a few flowers at first but now I am not sure it likes the windy rooftop - I am still trying to find a safer spot where it will be happy.
I buy most plants from my corner market or the flower district but buy a lot at Lowes and Kmart – I like the idea of "saving" the plants from the big house and showing them what a little one-on-one attention feels like. The hardest part is making 3-4 trips a day with a heavy watering can (not to mention getting all the dirt up there), but it's worth it now that I am starting to reap the benefits!
