Utah-based Lightheaded Beds is attempting to reinvent the headboard by adding backlit panels that act as nighlight and art at the same time. If you can get past the puppies, do you like this concept?
The company sells both the beds and the interchangeable images. Each bed features a remote controlled dimmer and timer for the lighting, which is constucted with energy-efficient low-voltage LEDs—which means no heat or noise. The beds' glowing headboards can double as nightlights or reading lights.

There are hundreds of images to choose from, but the selection is heavy on Disney-licensed characters and, well, puppies.

Love those puppies but not a fan of the headboard.
Not a fan of the puppies or Disney characters. The idea is cool, but I wonder how bright the light is. I've got two girls who share a room. One of them must have it totally dark while the other wants a night light. We struggle to find the perfect balance of light and dark.
How much energy does this waste?

What if you put curtains around the girls' beds along with wall mounted swing arm lights inside the curtains? That way they can each control how much light they get.
House, the lights are LEDs, so it probably wastes very little energy at all - probably no more than a traditional light bulb night light.
No. There are enough lit up screens in our lives. Keep it out of the bedroom.
Hmmm...maybe if the puppies dressed up as Disney characters?
In what world does that qualify as "high tech"?
