Looks like home improvement giant Home Depot has ventured into the realm of eco-friendly marketing. Home Depot's Eco Options sets out to "reduce negative environmental impacts every day" by helping consumers make better informed purchases with a new labeling system. They've divided and categorizing products by their benefits to the environment: Sustainable Forestry, Energy Efficient, Healthy Home, Clean Air and Water Conservation, with additional online videos, online clinics and how-to's, a personal energy audit tool, and a guide of projects around the house to improve efficiency and reduce environmental impact. The site is easy to navigate, polished and informative, while also advertising Home Depot's new green sheen. We were happy to see many of the tips and information were not directly tied to any product pandering (there are a few instances of "suggestions"); definitely a commendable step forward for the giant orange badged retailer. And it doesn't hurt they're giving away 1,000,000 vision CFL bulbs on Earth Day (April 22nd).
