Recognizing the rising demand for green homes, The Home Depot and The US Green Building Council have recently launched a database for affordable LEED eligible products. Even if you're not working on a LEED project, the database serves as easy to use guide for finding over 2500 eco-friendly building goods — from adhesives and appliances to toilets and trim.
Nate Kredich, vice president of Residential Development at USGBC made the following statement about the new initiative:
The LEED green building program helps homeowners measure green home performance across a range of categories, and products play an important role in achieving certification. This database represents just one of the many ways in which The Home Depot is advancing sustainable, efficient and healthy homes by supporting green building and green products.
The database is a specialized division within The Home Depot's website. Simply select the desired product category on the Points & Product Finder wheel, and the database takes you to a all eligible products and displays the applicable LEED category and potential point value. However, at this point, not all product categories on the Finder wheel have available products, but the website say they'll be coming soon.
