Looks like the trend these days in travel accommodations is downsize the room but upgrade the tech amenities. In similar fashion to the tiny but tantalizing UK Lux Pod (where our better half will be staying for a single night during her British coast vacation sometime next week), the Hotel Gabriel in Paris is a most enticing Parisian destination for anyone with a strong affinity for stylish decor infused with tech amenities such as unlimited wi-fi (we strongly advise nicer hotels to make this standard practice), LED mood lighting all throughout, light emitting wallpaper that patterns and illuminates the room in a futuristic glow, flat panel plasma screens, iPod docking and music system and a "NightCove" system which supposedly aids sleep with customizable ambient lighting and relaxation audio programming....

The rates for the tech-savvy rooms designed by Axel Schoenert Architectes AssociƩs - ASAA of the Hotel Gabriel start at EUR160 and scale up to EUR280 for the glowing room with the "NightCove" system. But there are some notable discount rates for the discriminating, tech-loving traveler currently with their opening prices and extended stay rates. Not that we had to have any more reasons to return to Paris, but now we've got hopes of spending an overnight stay where "zen-like and refined atmosphere contributes to its quiet sense of relaxation". Sounds fine by us.
