All unbeknownst to IKEA.
Unlike Mark Malkoff, who lived at the Paramus store for a week, and the Oslo stores, which allow overnight stays, however, the Sacramento visitors left when the store closed.

Too cool.
I do not know about the dress code, but those meatballs are to die for :-))
Sounds like an Improv Everywhere type of mission!
love it. wonder if that could be pulled off in schaumburg!
that's such an awesome idea! i lurve it!
Only at Ikea! Gotta luff it!
I think I know where I'm throwing my next party!
PlanItGirl - the Schaumburg store would be great for such an event - it's one of the few Ikea's that has an open floor plan, lots of windows, and if I remember right, at least two cafeterias, one actually having better food. (but no matter which Ikea, I always get the meatball combo!)
I would love for something to happen here in New York. Maybe at the Brooklyn Ikea after it opens (and the crowds have died down).
Who knew Sacramento had it in them? Wow...way to go, Cowtown!
fyi, fancy dress party really means "costume party"
32 weeks pregnant and am dying fir meatballs.
HEY!! I knew that guy on the far left looked familiar!!
It's the internet-famous guy from cockeyed.com : http://www.cockeyed.com/pranks/ikea_party/ikea01.shtml

HA. As soon as I saw Rob Cockerham (blue shirt in the second picture) I knew this would be some high quality shenanigans. His site is worth checking out. (I'm fond of the How Much Is Inside? Adventures.
Seriously lame
Wish I had guts to do smth like that. It should be lots of fun
Ha! Ha! Rob Cockerham is a friend of a friend... this Ikea party was one of many pranks he pulls for his website www.cockeyed.com. He's famous for them. Check out his website: http://www.cockeyed.com/pranks/ikea_party/ikea01.shtml
HAHAHA!
there is a german artist who had a show here in the postmasters gallery in ny a few months back. filmed in some european ikeas, with his wife and kids, and basically did the same thing.
Sounds like fun! Wish I had been shopping my local Ikea when it happened, I would have pulled up a chair and joined in.
