The newer, smaller cousin of the big Armory Show, this year the Independent Art Fair was located in a large Chelsea building, surrounded by contemporary art galleries on 22nd Street. The connection between objects, design and art caught our attention: an arrangement of chairs covered in aluminum foil, gold leaf paintings that appear to be windows, witty prints and more.

Shown are the booths of Sprueth Magers and Gavin Brown Enterprise. The Independent Art Fair is only three years old but seemed more contemporary, innovative, and manageable than some of the other art fairs also showing last weekend. Did you make it to the Armory Show or other art fairs in New York city?
