Project by: Trevor
Location: Florence, Alabama
After my brother moved out of our parents' house, my parents let me steal his room, and I completely changed it. I love mid-century design, but couldn't go full-fledged mid-century...vintage pieces are so expensive, and nowhere in Florence sells purely vintage pieces.
So, I found some furniture at thrift stores (over a long period of time) and already owned everything else. I painted the walls, rearranged furniture, brought in new pieces, and loved the finished product! I moved out to go to college in August, so when I came back this December, I thought I'd take some pics and send them in!
Resources for the design:
—mid-century wooden chair: $25 at thrift store and I had it recovered in a thick, tweed- like fabric
—stereo cabinet: $12; thrift store
—headboard: around $125; home decorators.com
—bookshelves with sliding glass: $100; Craigslist
—dresser: was my grandmother's, and I painted/changed hardware
—already had the desk, brown chair, and nightstand
—desk chair: $25 thrift store
—bedspread: around $135; The Company Store
—curtain panels: around $90; had them made locally
—standing lamp: belonged to grandfather...I rewired it
—cardboard deer head: around $60; Urban Outfitters
—vintage Paint by Numbers: both $5; thrift store
—Joni Mitchell records: collected from record stores
—Joni Mitchell poster: $30; Ebay
I really love Joni Mitchell. Hope you enjoy the room!
