We recently heard about a new line of eco-friendly soaps: The Joy of Soap offers soap bars and scrubs made with vegetable oil, therapeutic grade essential oils, and organic or wildcrafted botanicals with names like "Feeling Frisky" and the "Manly Man Soap."
Commercially made soaps often contain animal fat, petroleum derivatives, synthetic colorings, and chemical preservatives, as the woman behind The Joy of Soap, Melissa Hutcheson, discovered after years of traveling and dealing with harsh hotel soaps and their skin-drying chemicals. The Joy of Soap produces soaps in small batches, and each bar is hand cut and hand wrapped. Bars come in a large 5 oz size ($7.50) or a travel/guest 2 oz size ($3.50).
We haven't tried the soap in person, so we can't vouch for the scent, but the ingredients lists sounds nice, with essential oils like peppermint, sweet orange oil, lavender, and grapefruit.
