The Key Ring Screwdriver

After countless hours of putting together (and taking apart) furniture for our new home office, we definitely know the importance of having screwdrivers on hand. And it's often when we least expect it in and outside of the home where we need a screwdriver to tighten or loosen something...

We used to carry a utility knife, but they're both unwieldy and somewhat suspicious in these times when everything is eyed with worry. That's why we love these throwback design key ring screwdriver keys:

I just have a swiss army knife. It has a screwdriver, nail file, knife, little scissors, tweezers, bottle opener and wire stripper...although I'm not sure when I'll need that.

oh! My Dad worked for Proto Tool Company in Los Angeles. He had a box of screwdriver keys, all engraved with his name, to be used like business cards, I guess. A few were gold colored, not sure what the material was. He's 90 years old and still has a handful - gave one to my SO this summer. Like these:

might work for something small, but anything that it tightened enough would be pretty hard to get off with these.

i would modify it in a way where one of them could be slid through the hole on the other so that you had a small T handle on the top of it to add torque to it.

i would consider these though, but i keep my keychain minimal. I have a small swiss army knife with just the 2 blades, scissors, and the tweezers on it, and i use it all the time, from time to time i use the one tip as a screw driver but it doesn't do that good.

My dad keeps buying me different Leatherman tools, which is nice since they can be expensive. I have 2 in my car's glove box, a small 1 in my backpack and 2 at home. They come in very handy.

I think the idea is clever, though a more useful thing to have on a keychain would be a jeweler's screwdriver (to tighten the screws on eyeglasses and sunglasses that always seem to come loose)

You could increase the torque by using the attached metal ring as a "handle." I think this is a great idea. Might make a good Christmas gift for a former Leatherman carrier who travels a lot.
