Metalarte's newest light fixture demands customer interaction. In order for light to be diffused from the Jordi Canuda's Lesslamp, the ceramic shade must be pierced. A pickaxe is purchased along with the shade and the user releases the light by creating holes or picking away at the surface. A cracked egg effect can be had for more light, or simply a speckled globe for more ambient lighting.

The Metalarte lamps and the pickaxe can be purchased separately. The price for the light is 199 euros and 21 euros for the pickaxe.

Seems a bit over the top.
better like what you pic or no going back? intimidating
true that chromaspace - and i'm a little rusty with my pickaxe these days.
Personally, I hate anything that's more gimmick than design. And this is waaaaaay up there on the gimmick-o-meter for me.
That is a pretty cool concept. I wouldn't buy one, but I like the pictures.
Neat idea.
my thoughts exactly, modtramp
concept, not gimmick. some folks don't get the difference.
ahhhhhhh ... no.
The ax is kinda cool looking -- but I can't help thinking of it as a weapon or surgical instrument. Trepanning anyone?
