Rachael and her husband have spent the last 5 years transforming their bedroom into a great place to spend the night. Their use of subtle color truly comes alive when coupled with the natural light that floods their space. It's the perfect place to begin and end your day and they documented every step along the way for us...
Rachael and her husband live in the East Mountains of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Their room when they started was stark white, plagued by sad amount of storage and carpet that just had to go. Our favorite part of their renovation and makeover process is that it wasn't overnight.
It can be easy to watch makeover after makeover go by on the internet and feel like you should have the funds up front for everything you want at the snap of your fingers. But in reality, that's just not how home improvement works (at least for most people). They took their time, chose perfect paint colors, installed wood floors, toned down a sky light and made the space warm and personal.
Make sure to check out Rachael's Flickr sets with more before and after pictures than you can shake a stick at. She's done a bang up job of documenting their entire process as it was happening and it's really worth a look!
Thanks Rachael!

I'm sorry... I don't mean to be snarky... by Jesus H. Christ! 5 YEARS to redo that bedroom?
WTF??????????????????????????????????????????????????
Can someone please tell me the name of the flower in the first pic?
That looks like an orchid. Also, y'all, not everybody can afford to do wood floors and custom closets and quality paint and new furniture all in one swoop. Some of us have to save up for each step of the process. I know it's hard to imagine, but give it a try, it won't kill you.
Tough crowd today.
agreed- tough crowd.
I think it looks great & after renovating a studio space for just over a year now, I can vouch for renovations that take a while, especially when you do the work yourself. Good job guys!
I think this looks wonderful, especially the obvious care taken to personalize closet space!
As for the bed itself, although I would find that particular style/size overwhelming in my own much smaller space, I really, really like it in this space. Can anyone ID it for me? The bedside tables are compact and very neat-looking; I would love to consider having a pair of my own!
Jezebella: You are correct on all counts. Thanks.
cmelton13: Thanks.
JD2002: Thanks. The bed is by Samuel Lawrence and I think the style is called "Vintage". It was purchased at a furniture store called American Home in 2007. The bedside tables are from Levenger. I don't remember the name of the style, sorry.
