Yesterday, after we posted about San Francisco's Dreaming of a Green Christmas Program, e6 commented "Very cool. I wish LA did this." Well, they kinda do.
While the program isn't identical to SF's Dreaming of a Green Christmas, we did just learn—via the LA Times Home Blog—that Los Angeles has it's own green, alternative Christmas tree program. It's called the Living Christmas Tree Co.
At the Living Tree Christmas Tree Co., you can rent a living X-mas tree. It is delivered to your home via biodeisel truck, then picked up after the holidays and returned to the nursery until next year. Your family can even rent the same tree year after year and see it grow. The cost ranges from $50 to $135 depending on the type and size of tree.
Way better than watching it turn brown and then putting it out at the curb, right?
