Since moving to LA we have made a little Christmas tradition of going to the Chateau Marmont with our friend for a cup of cocoa by the tree in the stunning lobby. The landmark hotel is steeped in LA history (and scandal) but it’s the setting of this place that makes us so happy.
Sure there are other ways to experience all that the hotel offers. You can rent a bungalow and having a little Christmas cocktail party (very $$$) or eat a delicious holiday dinner on the terrace (very $$$). The Chateau doesn’t make it easy, with little to no parking (very $$$), but on a quiet afternoon, you can usually find somewhere to park on the street and sitting in the lobby with a book and a pot of something warm is truly worth the effort. It’s hard to find Holiday spirit void of kitch in LA, but the Marmont finds a way.
