We were delighted when Washingtonian Darlene Molnar reached out to share her debut project with our readers. According to Darlene, the Lucy Chair is a youthful reinterpretation of Poul Kjaerholm's legendary PK22 lounge chair.
The circle cutouts on the chair's seat and back are in artistic juxtaposition to the hard lines of the solid frame, and the piece itself is made of a 1.5mm thin sheet of plywood that was laser cut and bent into the frame. The chair was designed and produced by Darlene Molnar in collaboration with the Danish Institute for Study Abroad and the Royal Academy in Copenhagen, Denmark. Darlene is working on a website, and plans to unveil more pieces in the spring. We hope the spring also brings some production information for this lovely chair — we certainly have space available for it!
