Our school days (or rather, "daze") are far past us, but as a household of two with limited space in a 1 bedroom apartment, we're always looking out for compact desk solutions. This new IDEO + Steelcase collaboration designed for the classroom offers a laptop-friendly setup for students and small space dwellers alike.
The Steelcase Node school desk takes the same idea as the desk/chair combination we survived high school sitting in and modernizes it with improved ergonomics, integrated mobility and even a hook for laptop bags that students today undoubtedly bring to class in an era where the laptop is as ubiquitous as homework excuses. We're chuckling at the thought of purchasing a couple of these, imagining eating, working and rolling around the apartment in each of our Node chairs like bumper cars.
The Node is available in 12 color options, with the base available in 3 color options, and the work surface is available in 5 color options, all shipped in three parts supposedly easily assembled in just 30 seconds without tools. Let's just hope for the sake of educational institutions these are treated with a no-stick application underneath for gum wads.

cool concept. impossible to find pricing online... got any tips?
That's pretty cool. It would be great in schools since you often have to move desks around anyway. But I even like the idea for the home since you can easily move it around to use your laptop wherever you want. Plus, it's kind of nostalgic.
I think this would be very cool if you have kids at home.
