The Mussle Chair: Vintage With A Modern Twist

We love the world of modern children's furniture. It's finally starting to take a real leap (even in big box retail stores) from media and sponsored items, like say a Dora the Explorer foam chair to more classical pieces that have a chance of lasting more than a season. This piece is intended to be a chair for adults and a sofa for kids and we think it's definitely a step in the right direction.

This chair was created by Danish design student Hanne Kortegaard (pictured above), who's been hard at work creating a piece that pulls double duty. She was looking for something that was comfortable for adults and children alike while still keeping a small footprint and being able to provide comfort in several ways.

The chair can be used as a sofa for children, a chair for adults and the pillow or cushion can be removed to be used as a footstool or lounge pillow for tv watching or reading from the floor. We love the direction that children's furniture has been taking and we hope these kinds of innovative designs will eventually trickle down to an affordable retailer near you (even if it takes a little while.) Makes you wish you went to school for furniture design so you could make your own doesn't it?
