If you liked Scott & Kristan's Inspring Arts District Loft, you'll love the couple's newly expanded showroom. Two years after setting down roots for Hammer And Spear in the rapidly developing Arts District in Downtown LA, store owners Scott Jarrell and Kristan Cunningham (of HGTVs Design on a Dime) snagged a new corner spot and filled the space with a whole host of hunted treasures.

Reason for choosing this location: When we chose our original location, we knew that we were taking a risk. Our showroom was located off of a common space entry without direct access to the street and had no windows. We decided to play up the "in the know" aspect of our location, and it ultimately helped instill a sense of community and loyalty with our customers. We've always loved this building and its proximity to SciArc, so we were determined to make it work. For 2 years, we dreamed of acquiring the space next door and all of the street front windows that came with it. When the opportunity finally arose last fall, we jumped on it before it hit the market. This expansion afforded us the opportunity to move our design offices in-house, as well as provide a thoughtful amount of space to store inventory and operate our ecommerce.

Has your inventory or sourcing changed since expanding?: When we opened H&S our inventory was primarily vintage- that's our passion and it's what we know best. At this point, we're going on five years as residents of the Arts District- two of them as business owners- and we're constantly astounded by how many of our neighbors and friend are crazy-talented. Our focus now is creating a venue for LA's up-and-coming artisans and blending their new designs seamlessly with our trademark vintage finds.

Current best sellers: Month after month, our best seller is consistently our Arts District Printing Co. prints. In close second, we have developed a loyal following for our vintage barware section.
