We want to shake the hand of the person who invented this. Why? Because it's one of those items that seems totally useless ("How LAZY do you have to be to not put your friggin' Diet Coke in the fridge?!") and/or totally frivolous ("Why can't you just POUR your friggin' Diet Coke in a glass with ice?!"). But yet? We've all needed one of these One-Minue Drink Chillers in the eleventh hour, like when unexpected guests arrive with a warm bottle of white wine; or your slobby roommate slurps all of your Diet Coke in one sitting and tries to hide the evidence by leaving you a 12-pack of Diet Coke in the cupboard.
So here's the nerdspeak: This chiller will bring your drinks down to a cool 38 degrees Fahrenheit, or bottles of wine in four minutes. Also, it comes with a 12-volt car adapter (for tailgating purposes). The chiller will shut itself off when your drink reaches the right temperature. And how exactly does it work? Basically, you shovel ice in the unit, turn it on, and the device spins your drink so it's evenly cooled. (And yes, there is a no-spin option for the fancy delicate wines).
Available at Hammacher Schlemmer for $89.95.

Nerd Alert!: I love the show Mythbusters and one day they did a show on how to cool down beer the fastest. The "myth" was that you could bury beer under sand and then douse the sand with gasoline, light it on fire, and the fire would pull the heat out of the beer cans, instantly chilling them. (Nope, it totally didn't work). But what DID work, and they found it to be the best quick chilling method, is to submerge the beer or wine in icy SALT water. Salt is the key, regular ice water didn't chill the beer nearly as fast. Try it, it works FAST.
