Recently we attended a red carpet awards show. No, not last night's extravaganza, but The National Association of Professional Organizers's 3rd Annual Los Angeles Organizing Awards presented by The Container Store, which took place at the Luxe Hotel Sunset in Bel Air. More information on NAPO and pictures after the jump...
The Awards are presented to organizers who represent the best in the industry, including those who set the standard for home and business productivity and products and services that help consumers and businesses organize everything, including information, as well as manage their time and control habits that can lead to clutter and chaos. The awards were presented by the stars of some of our favorite shows: Sherri Shepherd of ABC-TV's The View hosted and the presenters included Nadia Geller of TLC's "While You Were Out;" Peter Walsh, the Australian whose segments on Oprah, showcasing hoarders, were particularly moving; and Linda Coopersmith, who, when we got a chance to talk to her later at the after-party, taught us how to fold a thong . Monica Ricci was a winner for her temptingly titled blog, Your Life...Organized," as was Sherie Dodsworth, whose Securita Vital Records PortaVault
, which she developed in response to Hurricane Katrina, organizes important documents and papers for easy portability, a must for those of us living in earthquake zones.
We were moved to learn that for members of NAPO, organizing is nothing less than a calling. We heard the same refrain from each of the participants we talked to, "We free people and allow them to live their best lives." We know how we feel when everything has its place and our house is clutter free. We met all types of organizers: organizers who specialize in moving; who help you downsize; who design your closets. Whether it's help organizing your tax receipts or finding the floor in that closet, NAPO can help connect us with the right organizer
