Okay, so we like some pallet reuse here and there, but an entire structure made of them is quite the accomplishment. In Berlin designer Matthias Loebermann made the Palettenpavillon solely from shipping pallets, ground anchors and tie rods. Who would've thought it could look so awesome? The Palettenpavillion was built in 2005 for the Skiing World Cup and was meant to be a temporary shelter for users and media to congregate, create and be inspired by the unusual, cave-like space. Matthias Loebermann choose pallets because he wanted to reflect the surrounding wooded region, while also constructing a sustainable space. It was constructed out of 1300 shipping pallets, 20 tie rods and 100 tension straps. If wanted, the structure can be easily assembled, disassembled and recycled without much waste.
