AK47's as art. The The Peace Art Project Cambodia, created in part by British artist Sasha Constable, reuses weapons, turning them into art as an expression of peace.

I wouldn't have guessed the first chair was made out of weapons if you hadn't told me.
While I was looking at the first few and thinking they had an interesting look, I ignored my goosebumps. But when I saw (at http://freshome.com/2007/03/21/furniture-from-weapons-a-peaceful-use-of-weapons/) the chair with the gunstock legs, I wanted (I'm sorry) to puke. Sasha Constable's stated principle of "turning weapons into art as expressions of peace" isn't strong enough to overcome my revulsion concerning how that chair actually LOOKS.
I noted at the Webiste that the guns used had already been destroyed by the Cambodian govt, so the issue of destroying "good guns", which seemed to bother a lot of folks, is moot, by the way!)
Here's the funny thing, I'm pro-gun control but have friends who are responsible gun owners and are rather libertarian about gun control. I know I got a kick out of this project, and I'll bet that they do too.
Love it! I must have missed on the site though if these (or similar pieces) are actually available for purchase at this point. Seems like a worthy cause...
