If you're contemplating your overflowing recycling bin, thinking to yourself that there's nothing sadder than an empty Champagne bottle, it might be the time to comfort yourself with a sweet little craft project. Champagne may disappear in the twinkle of an eye, but a darling chair made from the bottle's wire cage will preserve the memories forever.
Hosanna Houser of Martha Stewart's The Crafts Dept. has created an excellent Champagne chair tutorial , perfect for making gifts, dollhouse furniture, mementos, or ornaments for next year's tree. My favorite tip is to write a tiny note on the bottom ("NYE 2011" or "5th Anniversary"), commemorating the festive occasion.
Do you have any traditions like this? I used to save the corks from special-occasion bottles of bubbly, but don't anymore. Perhaps it's time to start a new tradition!

oh ive made so many of these... they ended up cluttering up so many surfaces so i just tossed them one day in a fit of frustration. very cute though.
Too cute. Hang on a wall and frame for a great DIY art project...
I wish I did this before I put the trash out last week! So cute!
I love these! What a great idea. They are so dear.
Take a look at this champagne chair collection on the lovely blog "Lilla A" http://lilla-a-design.blogspot.com/2010/06/en-stolsamling.html
my husband and I took a cruise for our honeymoon. Every night we would visit a little piano bar and drink martinis and dance. Our last night on the boat, our cocktail waitress made us some tiny champagne chairs with a table and tiny paper flowers sitting on a coaster with a sweet note. It is one of our favorite things.
A few years ago I entered a contest with Design Within Reach to design a chair/seating with a champagne cork, top ,wire & foil wrapper. I did not win, but it was a fun craft idea. Maybe I will make doll furniture for my granddaughters from them for next year.
I love miniature items and I love making crafts out of bottle caps as well. This is a great idea!!! Here's what I like to do with my bottle caps, make mini pies! -- http://www.etsy.com/listing/90704940/mini-pies-5-polymer-clay-handmade
