Philadelphia is an extremely inspirational city and the plethora of juxtaposition is just one aspect. Old and new live side by side and it's great when designers from other cities visit and focus their new Philadelphia inspirations into their designs.

The Phila Chair was designed by Kaleo Kala of KALA Studios; a designer based in Washington, DC. The design of the Phila chair is based on the time the designer spent in Philadelphia.
The Phila Chair is meant to be a blend of classic, sophisticated and modern — much like Philadelphia itself. The dark, rich stain can be seen in many Philadelphia homes whether they're traditional, or a modern renovation. The square shape of the arms and legs is characteristic of the many warehouses turned loft living in the city. Large, open plan spaces that occupy much of the Fishtown and Northern Liberty areas.
KALA Studios also designed a few other pieces for their Philadelphia Collection &mdash Strapped: a book end table and Wrapped: an entry way or sofa table that has been stripped down to its bare essentials.
Do you think the Phila Chair is a good representation of Philadelphia?

i wonder how much something like this would cost?
The cushioned back looks like it belongs on a smaller piece. Its proportions are off with the larger seat. I also think that the square frame would show a lot better if the back were lower. Other then that, It's a fine chair.
missamy, if you could get those in dark wood... that would be an awesome deal!!!
LOVE the look! It's like a piece of art. I don't think it would be comfortable to sit on for long periods of time.
