Since I first posted Cristian Zuzunaga's Pixellation fabric in April of 2008 it remains one of my favorite and most unique upholstery applications. Imagine my delight when I found the designers site that profiles many of his pixelation projects — from furniture to fashion.
Though the Togo upholstered in Shanghai is appealing, I'm holding out for Moroso's Steel armchair by Enrico Franzolini upholstered in Arena.
Check out the image captions for specifics on fabric names and see the Cristian Zuzunaga for even more — including his collaboration with fashion brand Quadrat.
If you're like me and can only dream of pixelated upholstery, check out Christian Zuzunaga's silk scarf or tote bag — available exclusively at the Tate giftshop.

Shaw's Original Fir...
There was a simultaneous gasp in our house -- my husband, 6year-old daughter and myself -- as the picture of the pixelated Togo came on.
Uhn, uhn. Doesn't work for us.
That is the MOST BEAUTIFUL thing I've seen all day.
Glorious!
I think the Togo would be beautiful no matter what it was upholstered in
I really like the bag. The couches are nice, but they're kinda making my eyes hurt.
But I must say, call me unstylish, but that first chair is the ugliest thing i've seen on earth. It looks like it a crappy bean bag chair. The pixels make it looks even worse.
But that's just me....
Beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder...
I know the Togo is much beloved by many, but to me it just looks like the ugliest of college furniture.
To each his/her own
I'm loving the Springfield Sofa.
The upholstery is quite out of my budget--as is the beautiful scarf--and even it wasn't, I imagine it would quickly become an eyesore. But! How cool would it be to have a small, pixelated side table? You could DIY and it wouldn't be too over the top.
No matter what you do to the Togo, it's still the sexiest looking couch out there.
That Springfield sofa is a work of ART! So sophisticated while still being visually interesting. Killer.
I should add, that when we gasped at what had been done to a Togo, we were all lounging around on our solid red togo set.
I've loved Togo since I was 8 years old; I've loved it in a huge gingham pattern, but not this -- there is just too much going on -- the pixilation, the folds and curves of the Togo, just too much.
And yes, Togo *is* the sexiest and most comfortable furniture around (it's all curves baby!); my husband agrees, and so we are on our second. (not my first choice for entertaining the ladies of my bookclub though, but then, many are in their '50s).
I'm not a fan of the upholstered chairs, but that hallways is really cool. The walls look pixelated, but it could also seem like mosaic tiles too. A sophisticated mix of old and new.
I, for one, love ALL of it! Especially the first chair! And that couch. And the other chair. And the bag. Oh heck, I'm sticking with ALL of it!
