Why blue? Blue's cool tones mean you can brighten it up without it looking garish, and since it works with so many other colors, it's great on a big area like a wall. From robin's egg to peacock to navy, a bold paint is the quickest and easiest way to liven up your decor.

Nomade Express Slee...
I painted my walls a light blue - Sprinkle from Valspar - and it makes me happy every time I come home!
Love the lighter shades of blue. If I were allowed to paint, I'd be all over the color in photo number 4. It's simply gorgeous.
My first apartment had blue walls, I absolutely adored them and I miss them dearly! They were cheerful but calming at the same time. I recently moved to an apartment with tan walls and missed my blue so much that I bought a blue couch.
Thank you for featuring rooms that aren't white! I've lived with white and I've had varying degrees of bold color and no matter what, I love real color. To me it provides a good dose of cheer and charm that white can't provide. I know people are afraid they'll get tired of a color, but paint is the easiest and least expensive way to update a room. Get samples from the store first and put test patches on the wall and go for it!
Also love the lighter blue walls. Gorgeous.
Oooh, I adore navy walls. We painted a room navy once and it was gorgeous, but we had to move 6 months later... this is tempting me to do it again!
I'm all over #1! That's a stunning shade of blue and the pink table and red stools just make it all pop.
Picture No.4 is my ideal bathroom and shade of blue!! You'd never get me out of that shower!
Thanks for sharing these with us :)
I am not a big fan of the color blue but after seeing this post I may have to change my mind. I am loving all these spaces, especially number 2 and number 10. I wonder how many coats of paint was needed for #10?
Having painted a good portion of my home dark blue, I have to say that it all depends on the brand of paint you buy and the condition of your walls. For me, it would only take two coats if I bought Benjamin Moore paint.
#7 is my favorite -- the blue looks like the lapis lazuli pigment that is so compatible with the owner's elevated tastes in art.
The slight greenishness in #4 stops it from being a blah sky blue. That bathroom would have been a visual dirge if they had gome with white instead of a color.
Hooray for celebrating colorful walls! So many of the house tours show only white/beige walls, which is really boring and does nothing to inspire me. This was a much-needed antidote.
I love my robin's egg blue living room! I was scared at first but it actually works all year and continues to be my favorite painted area in our home. It even works with christmas decor and our eclectic aesthetic.
#2 looks a lot like my bedroom. it's peacock blue walls, bamboo floors, and white ceiling and trim. be careful though, sometimes where the natural light hits it looks greenish. otherwise i love the dampening and cozy effect it has on my sleeping room.
