The walls of my childhood bedroom were bubblegum pink. It was like that when my parents bought the house, and I still remember my dad, telling my older sister and me on the morning of move-in day, that if we both really wanted the pink room, we had to race for it. Hence followed one of the quickest sprints of my not-yet-four-years, and I basked in the glory of that Pepto-Bismal shade for years to come.
Later on my interest in pink waned, and the room has since been painted several times. The color still holds a special place in my heart though, for practicality as well as sentimentality.
In its palest, barely-there form, pink is a great alternative to white; softer and more flattering, and a surprisingly good backdrop for art. On the other end of the spectrum, fuschia or neon pink makes a bold statement in small (or large) doses.
From pale to punchy, here are some of the best ways to use pink on your walls:

What do you think — would you ever paint a room pink, or the memories of Barbie's Dream House too much to overcome?

Our readers just voted to paint the interior of the closet of my daughter's "big girl room" a bold pink and we can't wait! We're going with Benjamin Moore's Peony. The name alone...
I'd like to find some way of using a pale pink in a small guest bathroom but I'm having so many problems finding the right color. I don't want anything peachy or putty-colored, but I don't want bubblegum either. I think that 5th photo is the closest representation of what I'm looking for, though. The blog says it's Wild Aster from Benjamin Moore. I wonder how it would look with a faux marble porcelain tile.
RE : photo #4...That beautiful Moroccan wedding blanket *looks* nice on the floor, however a few scrapes of those chairs if someone were to actually EAT there and that blanket is toast. Meant for the bed, thrown over a couch... form follows function. Wrong material, wrong place.
That said, I love pink walls. My favorite white is an obsolete one you can still have blended, and is faintly pink...Ralph Lauren "Sneaker White"...with just a few drops of terra cotta and one of lamp black per gallon. Organic and lovely, goes with everything and so flattering to the skin.
I hate the color pink on anything (you sure won't catch me wearing it). It has to do with my having insisted that my dad paint my bedroom walls a Pepto pink when I was 8 years old and have everything else be pink or white within the room. By age 13, I hated my bedroom and used babysitting money to pay for a dark blue bedspread to replace the pink one (any color to break the sea of pink!). My parents have never repainted that room and use it for storage now. I gag whenever I visit home and peek inside - the walls are still just as pink as ever!
However...
#15, the one pink kitchen wall in that loft, does have its charm.
Pale pinks can be used as neutral tones and they are more flattering to all skin tones than white.
I was a '60s child and that era's Barbie had a more adult image even though she was a child's toy. She wasn't associated with the color pink then IIRC. My Barbie Dream House was actually blue although there was one pink chair. As for clothes, I fondly remember a gold-and-white brocade evening coat with fur-trimmed sleeves. I think it was Evening Splendor Barbie or something like that.
@Pi, I painted my bathroom Damask Rose by Benjamin Moore. I have white cabinets and tiles. It's very fresh and spa-like. I use black, orange and red accents. Of course you could just keep it very calm. Check it out. The color is really nice.
Oh gosh, how I ADORE the color pink. Always have and always will :)
These pics are beautiful. Wouldn't mind living in any of these rooms.
I just painted my bedroom True Value Zinfandel. Now I'm painting the furniture in berry colors. I never had a pink room as a child, but I'm really liking this one.
I like the color pink but not on walls, although I do seem to like pic #11 for some reason....
