Name: Dana & Steve
Location: Grant Park — Atlanta, GA
Size: 1500 square feet
Years lived in: 2 — owned
You wouldn't know by looking at it, but two years ago this home was an empty foreclosure that was in a sad state. It needed a full overhaul of the electrical system, plumbing, and HVAC, but despite the upgrades in store, they set a date of one month to have the place move in ready. With the renovations and painting complete, the two merged their styles into one and the result is a beautifully light, bright and colorful space that exudes tranquility.
Steve, a photographer and Dana, an art director are a tag team duo when it comes to repair, renovation, and revival. They know when to hold them, and when to fold them, and when to drag them out back and spray paint them. Their style is executed with a very detailed eye as their space isn't cluttered and each piece has a purpose, function, or story behind it. It's curated beautifully and feels as luxurious as it does thrifty which makes for a very comfortable environment.
The outcome is a home that feels lived in and not like a decoupaged conmposite of ideas from magazines or blogs. This home is truly a product of the owners and although they still have many projects up their sleeve, it's already a work of art. It's a breath of fresh air and is a great example of the beauty that this style of home truly has to offer. Come take a look!

Bookmarked under "Apartment Therapy Favorites." This home is so effortlessly beautiful, and so full of life and character without being contrived. Well done!
love that orange front door! I may have to copy.
what a source of inspiration!
Beautiful! Could you please share where you found the shark sponge holder by your kitchen sink?
love that striped rug (and the whole house). is it one story or two?
Beautiful space! Great art and fun bright colors. I live in a craftsman and have really grown to love them.
I used to live across the street from this house when I lived in Atlanta. So cool to see the inside!
Where did you get the pink skelly blanket?? Gotta Know!
This is a nice house. I like the narrow-windowed blue front door; the cute hippo print + tree branch shower curtain in the bathroom; the stacked bicycles; & the painting of the smoking girl. I notice also that this is a house of many couches.
Very nice.
Very nice, especially love your orange front door!
Beautiful! I think I'm in love. The use of color is brilliant. My favorite part is the front door. http://finehowaboutyou.blogspot.com/
Don't hate me if I copy your front door inside and out. I love it!
Hmmm. I have the same kitchen cabinets and a) haven't been able to afford doing anything to them yet and b) am not sure whether I want to paint over them or sell them and use the proceeds to replace them.
What you've done to your kitchen shows me that there's hope. White counter, surrounding colours, makes them bearable, blend in, even.
Love the Singer sewing machine cabinet turned desk...
I'm in love with the turquoise door and all the other pops of colour!
I love most of this house. Some of the lighting fixtures just need to go (the dining room and porch come to mind immediately). And that door, while cute, looks awful on a craftsman. Sorry. Mixing those two periods jars my sensibilities.
Furnishings, colors, and other details I love. Nice place. And I adore the light fixture in the hall.
i have never wanted to live in a house more in my entire life, or at least be friends with the people living in this house. the side by side desks with matching chairs is wonderful and feel like i could be productive forever there!
I like it.
I looove the pops of orange. The door, the solid wood dining table with the fun red chairs...love it all!
Great job. Curious about what it looked like before.
Love it - it's so light and airy! Love the door! And the bicycle racks -where did you get it?
nice colors!
hmmm, after thinking about it for 2 seconds ... I decided .... i need to move in.
very cute
generally with colors as vibrant and alive as these, I feel that they are overdone- and feel very uncomfortable. But in this case! Wow! These feel very effortless, fresh, and very full of life.
I applaud the effortless look of the color theory going on here- that not many people can achieve.
Anyone have any clues as to where to find that bike rack?
@cromaglife, it looks like the gravity bike racks, there are several similar ones on Amazon.
Extremely creative with a light touch. A great tour. Thanks.
Beautiful historic house, nice decorating but lose that front door...
The vintage cameras on the fireplace are especially cool. We have vintage movie projectors in our home and receive many comments from guests. I really enjoy objects that resonate with people. Cheers.
Very bright & airy. I love the old cameras on the mantel. Some great pops of color.
amazing. one of my favorite tours ever
Nice bikes. I like bike pics better than baby and pet pics. AT needs more bikes.
My favorite thing about the house is the blue office with blue chairs in just the right amount of blue and blue.
Sorry, I don't love the front door. I think it is totally wrong and disrespectful to the original architecture and integrity of the house's exterior. The use of color is refreshing, just wish the front door architecturally and aesthetically worked as a whole and wasn't such a "statement" piece.
Oh very well done with the bright colors,, seems very cheeerful,, to me i'd put some different kind of colors of curtain panels,, the rooms are too bright for me as for using white panels,, nice layout in the house, especially how you did the attic for a den/office...beautiful colors...
I think the door is ok..it represents the colors that are to be shown inside,,very well painted too with the bicycle outside the front porch.
Your home is beautiful! I love the front door, old cameras, magazine rack and the credenza.
Great use of color. Great house. You might want to consider losing the hedges out front and going with a few bold modern pots and/or bold plantings. The hedges just don't seem to go with your look and they hide your charming home. Thanks for sharing!
Incredible! Not usually a fan of vintage, but your pieces are beautifully done i.e no chipped & peeling paint, etc. Seriously making me rethink MCM. I had forgotten how useful those endtables can be (<:
I love it all - the door, the light fixtures, the globe & record collections, red dining chairs, magazine rack, all the color, even the kitchen.
Thanks!
Very nice! Especially the little bar area and the "vintage" Fisher stereo!
AT could we get floor plans too?
Always a delight reading articles from this blog. Thanks for posting this one.
Love that orange couch!!! Is it a fold out bed? Also love the dining chairs. And glad to see I'm not the only one holding on to my LPs.
Also love the office set up, and the porch!
Hey, you guys need a house sitter?
