The print in this Dwell magazine interior is one of Alexander Girard's Environmental Enrichment Interior Panels for Herman Miller. One of these panels was recently sold at auction for $900 and we saw Ebay listings in the thousand dollar range. So we were pleased to discover a version that we could actually afford.
The Velocity Art and Design PLYprints are $89. Each graphic panel features one of six iconic Alexander Girard image hand screen-printed on a US made sustainably-harvested maple plywood panel and include all mounting hardware and have a spacer on the back that allows the panel to float off the wall.
These panels would be Girard's final design after working 22 years for Herman Miller. The textiles were intended to spruce up Herman Miller's Action Office cubicles in the early 1970s. Dwell has a great history of Girard here.
The interior shot is from a Dwell magazine story on a Mies van der Rohe home in Detroit's Lafayette Park.
